Genesis and early experiments 2008-2013
Bitcoin’s early history centered on the design, activation, and programmed issuance of a peer-to-peer electronic cash system. On 2008-10-31, Satoshi Nakamoto published “Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System,” describing cryptographic proof as an alternative to a trusted intermediary. On 2009-01-03, Bitcoin block 0 established the blockchain’s starting point, with a timestamp recording January 3, 2009. Altcoins and the first market cycles 2014-2017
